The Duchess of Sussex wore a pair of diamond and pearl earrings that the late monarch gifted her in 2018.
On Monday morning, members of the royal family gathered together to lay Queen Elizabeth to rest at her state funeral held at Westminster Abbey. Among the guests paying their respects was Meghan Markle, who chose to honor Her Majesty through her outfit choice.
For the somber service, the Duchess of Sussex wore an all-black ensemble with a black hat and pearl and diamond earrings, seemingly the same pair the late Queen gifted to Meghan back in 2018. Queen Elizabeth reportedly gave the elegant earrings to her granddaughter-in-law ahead of their first solo outing together in Cheshire, just one month after marrying Prince Harry. The dainty studs are said to be a smaller version of one of the Queen's go-to styles.
Meghan also wore the earrings last week when Queen Elizabeth’s coffin was carried by a gun carriage in a procession from Buckingham Palace to the Palace of Westminster. For that ceremony, she was also stuck to royal mourning protocol, wearing head-to-toe black.
Harry and Meghan have been in the U.K. since the Queen passed away on September 8. They happened to already be in Europe for a series of charity-related appearances at the time. Though they live full-time in California with their two kids Archie and Lilibet now, the Sussexes have remained in England during the period of mourning and have since made several appearances alongside other members of the royal family.
Following the funeral, Harry and Meghan are expected to join the rest of the royals in an intimate committal service at St George's Chapel in Windsor where the Queen will be laid to rest alongside her parents, sister, and her beloved late husband, Prince Philip, in the King George VI Memorial Chapel.
