Prosecutors say two men robbed another man of his belongings at gunpoint after one of the suspects befriended the victim at a nightclub in Waukegan last weekend.

Alejandro J. Dominguez, 22, of the 5000 block of Grand Avenue in Gurnee, was charged with one count of aggravated robbery indicating a firearm and one count of robbery.

Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Olaide Adeniran said officers were dispatched on Saturday to a call of an armed robbery.

The victim told Waukegan police officers he had been at a nightclub until it closed.

A man, who the victim identified as Dominguez, approached him and asked if he wanted to go to an after-party to meet some girls, Adeniran said.

The victim agreed and got into a car with Dominguez, who drove while the victim sat in the back seat.

Dominguez picked up another man, who sat in the front passenger seat.

While driving, the men asked the victim if he had any cash so they could get some alcohol, Adeniran said.

The victim said he did not have cash on him and Dominguez reportedly got annoyed.

The front passenger pulled a gun out and pointed it at the victim, Adeniran said.

The front passenger told the victim to give him his belt, the gold chain he was wearing and his wallet.

Adeniran said the victim complied and gave them everything they asked for and the two then ordered the victim out of the car.

Officers were investigating an unrelated call of shots fired at a block party when someone called police to report a vehicle parked in the alley behind a residence.

Officers found Dominguez, who told them it was his car and gave them consent to search it, Adeniran said.

Officers found two gold chains, an identification card and 10 credit cards, which all belonged to the victim.

Prosecutors did not say if the second suspect involved has been identified or charged yet.

Lake County Judge Ari Fisz ordered Dominguez held on a $75,000 bond.

Dominguez was released from the Lake County Jail after posting $7,500 cash.

A status of preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 3.
