It's spring's freshest jewelry trend

Fact: Pearls are everywhere. The gemstone-of-the-moment has been making appearances on just about every It Girl's Instagram as well as making waves on the runways—particularly at the Spring 2019 shows, from Oscar de la Renta to Prabal Gurung.

Once reserved for grandma's jewelry box, today's pearl pieces are a far cry from the classic, preppy—and, often, perfectly spherical—pearls of the past. Rather, all eyes are on baroque pearls, which are often oddly shaped and unique in color and luster. Stacked, bejeweled dangler earrings and misshapen stringed anklets and rings are more like wearable pieces of modern art than the stuffy status jewelry.
