Superstar Nayanthara married the love of her life - filmmaker Vignesh Shivan today (June 9) in a close-knit ceremony held at Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu. The couple tied the knot early today, and by 8 am, the who’s who of the film industry started to arrive to give their blessings to the newly wedded couple. The pictures from the wedding ceremony have come out a while ago, and both the bride and groom are looking breathtaking in their wedding attire.

Here’s everything you need to know about Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan’s wedding outfits.

While pastels and ivory ruled the wedding season this year, Nayanthara chose to keep it classic, by opting for a red saree for her big day. The superstar is someone who values the tradition and loves to add her own signature style to everything. Nayanthara wore a custom handcrafted saree from JADE in a vermillion red hue. The saree featured tone-on-tone embroidery, which is inspired by the carvings at the Hoysala temples.

Keeping the tradition of ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue’, bride Nayanthara chose her blouse to be traditional. She wore a blouse with a bateau neck, and long sleeves. The designer gave the traditional blouse a twist by reimagining Goddess Lakshmi motifs as bajubandh on the sleeves of the blouse.

Nayanthara’s regal saree also had some personalized designs too. The couple has always been head over heels in love, and for the bridal outfit, Nayanthara wanted a piece of them. The superstar’s custom-made saree had her and Vignesh Shivan’s names woven on it, symbolizing their love.

Instead of going for gold jewellery, the gorgeous bride Nayanthara chose diamond, emerald, and pearl-adorned jewels. The statement stud earrings were adorned with diamonds and emeralds. And Nayanthara wore three neck pieces - a choker, a statement necklace, and a layered necklace. The mang tika, the bangles, and the rings carried the old world charm, and she looked straight out of a fairytale on her big day.

The handsome groom Vignesh Shivan too levitated towards a traditional ensemble consisting of a kurta, veshti, and shawl. The custom-made gold-toned ensemble resonated with the four pheras, signifying Sharma, Arth, Kama, and Moksha. Vignesh Shivan’s shawl had handcrafted Ek Taar embroidery, that gave the ensemble a perfect balance of luxe and tradition.
