Taylor Swift hasn't done many public appearances this year, but the singer graced the MTV VMAs with her presence tonight in Newark, New Jersey. Swift dressed lavishly for the occasion in a silver chain mini dress with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. Swift posed solo and once again put engagement rumors to bed for now by posing sans engagement ring on her left ring finger.

Swift and Alwyn were photographed out in New York City this week, having dinner with Lena Dunham, signaling Swift was in the area for the VMAs ceremony. Swift has nominations for Video of the Year (“All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version)”), Best Longform Video (“All Too Well”), Best Cinematography (“All Too Well”), Best Direction (“All Too Well”), and Best Editing (“All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version)”).

Alwyn addressed engagement rumors regarding him and his girlfriend of five years in April. He told WSJ then, “If I had a pound for every time I think I’ve been told I’ve been engaged, then I’d have a lot of pound coins,” he said. “I mean, the truth is, if the answer was yes, I wouldn’t say, and if the answer was no, I wouldn’t say.”

Swift, meanwhile, hasn't given many interviews in the last year and has kept a low profile. She is dipping her toe in the acting world though, in addition to directing via her heavily-nominated “All Too Well” music video. Swift will be appearing in Amsterdam, which is coming out on Oct. 7.
