It’s been three years, but interest in keeping the Pasadena Lapidary Society’s annual Tournament of Gems has been rock solid.

So, it finally returned on Saturday, Aug. 20, complete with a new location and plans for a repeat engagement on Sunday, Aug. 21.

Now at the Arcadia Masonic Center, the 62nd Tournament of Gems Show is titled, appropriately enough, “Inspiration Unearthed,” and it featured PLS club members’ displays of gemstones, mineral and fossil specimens, member-created jewelry and artwork; demonstrations of lapidary techniques and jewelry-making skills.

There was even a Treasure Wheel, where kids could try their luck, and a Sand Scoop for “goodies.”

Society members ultimately want to educate the public about the world of gems, minerals, how to go fossil hunting, and earth sciences.
