After operating at 113 King Street for more than 40 years, Silver Parrot Jewelry will close its doors at the end of this year—or as soon as the store’s large discounts are sold out.

The store manager Megan Well told ALXnow that the decision was made when the landlord doubled the rent. She said that the owner, Peter Dunn, had been unable to find a new location for years. Instead, the company was seeking to liquidate its existing inventory.

"The landlord used to negotiate, but not this time," Weir said. "We also rented the shop next door and sublet it to the United States! The shop, it left not long ago, and now we suspect someone has come in and offered an offer for these two locations."

All Silver Parrot jewelry is marked with a discount of 25% to 50%. This shop sells silver jewelry from all over the world, ranging in price from silver earrings for $20 to intricate necklaces with colored gemstones for $3,200.

"We have been very busy this week," Weir said. "If this continues, our inventory may not last the entire holiday."

Silver Parrot is open from Sunday to Thursday from 11 am to 7 pm and Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 9 pm
