On Monday, police and relatives said that a Bronx father was killed by three gunmen while celebrating his birthday because they had robbed him of his precious property, with an 18-carat gold chain hanging around his neck.

The 14-year-old daughter of the victim Jonathan Peña, Jaylien Peña, told the Daily News: “I’m sad to know that he’s gone.” “He is very cute, loving, and Love-always make sure people are okay."

The police said that before 5 pm on Saturday, scammers pointed guns at 32-year-old Penia and his 46-year-old friend on Macombes Road near Inwood Avenue in Mount Eden.

The video shows that the robber managed to get the victim to stand up against the storefront, and then snatched the gold chain from Penha.

This necklace was a gift from Zayerelin Figueroa, her cohabiting girlfriend four years ago.

Figueroa, 35, said: "For years, he has wanted that chain store."

"He would wear it all the time and never take it off," Jellyn added.

The video showed that when one of the victims tried to escape and opened a nearby door, the robber shot Peña in the chest and his friend's hip.

The medical staff rushed the old man to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition. Soon after, Peña took a private car to the BronxCare Health System, where he died.

Penha lives in Edenwald in the Bronx and works for a moving company. His family said that when his life was cut needlessly, he went out and had a good time.

"This is a day for men," his daughter said. "Just hanging out with friends, having fun, and living his own life. His birthday was last week, so, you know, he might be out to celebrate his birthday."

"Everything is going downhill," she added. "We are all destroyed. No one can explain anything in words."

Figueroa cried so much after learning that Peña had died, and she had to be hospitalized due to dehydration.

"I can't believe it," she said of Penha's violent death. "He is a caring and considerate father. An otaku. He is always by our side and will never hurt anyone."

She and Penha met at the Bronx Club 11 years ago. This happy couple has two daughters, Jaylien and Jaylien's 8-year-old sister.

"The little guy asked,'When will Dad go home?'" Figueroa said. "To be honest, we need help. This is a very difficult time for us."

Figueroa is now trying to raise $10,000 to pay for Penha's funeral.

The police are seeking help from the public to identify the gunmen and track them down.

"They will get what they deserve," Jelene said. "What they did to him is not fair at all. He loves that so much."

As of Sunday, the number of victims of homicides and shootings in the city this year was basically the same as the same period last year.

There were 417 homicide victims this year, compared with 423 in the same period last year, a decrease of 1%. But compared with the same period two years ago, the number of homicides this year has increased by 42%.

Statistics from the New York Police Department show that although the number of shooting victims has decreased by 1% compared with last year, the number of people killed by shooting in the city so far this year has doubled as compared to the same period two years ago.
